ALABAMARN’s can perform SD as long as they have taken a course and had supervised clinical practice. The facility policy and procedures must reflect the RN’s capacity to perform this skill. LPN’s may not perform this procedure.
ALASKAThe Nursing board determined that it is acceptable practice for a nurse with wound care certification and additional training in sharp debridement can perform sharp debridement. Must have a physician's order and a clear policy and procedure at place of employment. RN that do not meet above criteria and LPN’s may not perform this procedure.
ARIZONARN’s can perform SD as long as they have taken a course and had supervised clinical practice. The facility policy and procedures must reflect the RN’s capacity to perform this skill. LPN’s may perform this procedure under the supervision of an RN or NP.
